I think we can agree handprint art makes the sweetest art! It’s the kind of art you want to keep forever to remember how small your kids once were. Get your kids ready to celebrate love with this adorable Love Handprint Art. We love this project especially as a preschool Valentine craft because at this age they’re excited to make art with you!

My son Dash just turned 3 and loved getting his hand and foot painted with colors. You can even provide them a brush to do it with some assistance!

We were inspired to make this love Valentine craft from many examples online and created our own printable to make it super easy to make this preschool Valentine project with your little ones! We also updated this post to include THREE more Valentine handprint templates!

What do you need to make this handprint and footprint Valentine art project?

This art is so simple, especially with our printable templates. Other than that you just need paint, and paint brushes! Oh and don’t forget those cute little hands and feet!

For this toddler and preschool art (although this would be so sweet with baby’s handprints too) we also recommend something to cover the floor like a canvas paint drop cloth (we use ours over and over again for many art projects).

Also optional is some colored cardstock to add some color behind your art. And you could also get a frame in the same size to preserve this art for a long time.

Materials

Instructions

  1. Lay down a paint drop cloth on the floor or newspaper to contain any paint drips.
  2. Print out printable LOVE template.
  3. Add a thin layer of pink paint to your child's handprint with a foam brush and press down next to the L on the template. One tip is to separate the handprints out as print to show the full hand.
  4. Add a thin layer of red paint to your child's footprint with another foam brush and press down to make one part of the V. Repeat for the other half of the V. Also make sure to separate the toes as stamping.
  5. If you don't get a nice full print, use your foam brush to fill/dab in any holes or gaps with extra paint.
  6. Once the print is dried, you can glue to another piece of colored cardstock and frame that if you wish.
