Do you need sewing skills to make these towel dogs?

Absolutely not! Which is why we are smitten with them because they really are a cute and fun craft for younger kids who don’t know quite yet how to sew. They are also a fun introduction to make your own first stuffed animal!

Kids love and get attached to soft loveys and so we have a feeling they will love making these adorable towel dogs to hug and carry around.

Just keep in mind that since all parts are glued on, they are not for kids under age of 3 for potential choking hazards. Make sure to supervise at all time.

You can always opt to sew on the felt parts and use sewn on eyes for security if you are concerned of kids ripping the glued parts off.

How many towels do you need to make one towel dog?

The great news is that you only need one small wash cloth! We were inspired by this tutorial to make a towel dog but it required a larger 15″ x 30″ towel.

We modified the design to fit a standard small square wash towel more commonly found in stores. And also created some cute versions like a grey and brown puppy dog!

These towel dogs make adorable gifts for friends!

We think the small size is adorable for gifting and holding in a pocket or to take on the go! With Valentine’s Day coming up, how cute would it be to attach a tag that says “I Woof You?”
