This Halloween Squeegee Paint Art is a magical Halloween art project kids will love with a fun reveal!
We stumbled upon this Squeegee Paint Drawing technique a while back and have been hooked ever since! We created this Halloween Squeegee Paint Art version just in time for the spooky season! Ours features a smiling Jack-O-Lantern, but you can do any fun Halloween characters like a ghost, Frankenstein, Black Cat or Witch! This is an awesome Halloween art project for kids!
Why is squeegee painting so fun?
We love squeegee painting because there’s always a fun magical reveal! Check out our rainbow squeegee art and squeegee painting with toddlers. There isn’t any right or wrong way to do this! Kids will love adding colorful blobs of paint and scraping their own drawings. Of course you can use a tool other than squeegee like a piece of cardboard edge or even an old credit card for some classic scrape painting!
How do you make this Halloween Squeegee Paint Drawing?
The process for making this is the same as the cat version we shared a while back. First think of a shape or character to draw with a black Sharpie or marker (we recommend an alcohol-based one that won’t smear or get diluted with paint). Then add blobs of paint and squeegee your canvas to reveal the magical drawing!
What materials do you need for this fun Halloween art project for kids?
You’ll need a canvas or you can use a piece of watercolor paper, a squeegee, various colors of paints and a black marker like a Sharpie. Didn’t we tell you this Halloween art is super easy! You mostly likely have all the materials ready on hand! Let’s get started making!
Halloween Squeegee Paint Art – Materials:
Black Marker like a Sharpie
Orange and Black paint (we used acrylic paint)
Newspaper or paint dropcloth or old tablecloth to catch drips

Materials
- Blank Canvas
- Black Marker like a Sharpie
- Orange and Black paint (we used acrylic paint)
- Squeegee
- Newspaper or paint dropcloth or old tablecloth to catch drips
Instructions
Step 1. Draw a Jack-O-Lantern on your canvas with your black marker. Of course you can try different shapes but this is what we made.
Step 2. Lay your canvas over newspaper or something you don't mind getting paint on.
Step 3. Add orange paint over your pumpkin and cover with a toothpick of small wooden stick.
Step 4. Add drips and blobs of orange and black paint all though the canvas, not on the orange pumpkin though.
Step 5. Slowly squeegee the paint down to reveal the pumpkin art.
If you miss any squeegee spots on the canvas you can go back and add more light drips and blogs and squeegee those blank spots.
