Thank-O-Rama is such a fun event to be a part of. All of the beloved Mo Willems characters including mischievous Pigeon, Knuffle Bunny, and of course the dynamic Elephant & Piggie duo are celebrating Pigeon’s 16th BIRD-day by rounding up readers just like YOU to join them on a bus tour across America during the month of May.
If you missed it, that’s ok! Don’t fret. You can purchase the books and read them at home. You can even pretend to be your favorite character for the day, how fun does that sound?!
Our family recently celebrated Thank-O-Rama this May. We got these adorable Elephant and Piggie photo props, chalk decal paper, and Piggie and Elephant shaped chalk. The kids and I started brainstorming who we could thank. Since it’s the end of the school year, teachers immediately came to mind.
We created thank you cards with the chalk paper to thank their teachers for the school year. We are so thankful for the teachers who give our kids so much of their time and love throughout the school year, so we wanted to do something really special for them! I just love how these turned out. The chalk quotes go really well with the theme of teacher gifts. They look like mini blackboards.
All you need to make these adorable chalk thank you cards are:
- chalk decal paper
- large quotes (here’s our free printable if you need some!)
- craft sticks
- glue or tape
Step 1. Print out the quotes and cut them out.
Step 2. Use them as a template to cut out chalk quotes. Then stick the chalk decal quotes onto the cardstock so it’s sturdy.
Step 3. Have kids write in chalk what they are thankful for to their teachers.
Step 4. Attach a craft stick with glue or tape.
These would be cute if you added a gift card on the back! Or stick inside a cute plant like a small succulent for end-of-the-year teacher gifts.
Thank someone today in honor of Thank-O-Rama! I also want to thank YOU and all our wonderful readers. Each one of you has an important role and I am honored to share our love of reading with you.
There are so many things to be thankful for & reading is at the top of our list. It’s always a good idea to start the day off with gratitude, but how do you make sure to get everything & everyone on your list? We can start by thanking our current favorite book, Harold &Hog Pretend for Real. . Pick up a copy for a fun read-along to find out if Harold and Hog’s friendship can survive a game of pretending to be Elephant & Piggie At the end of the book, you’ll be thankful for this wonderful family-friendly story!
Mo Willems is incredibly thankful to all of us, his devoted readers. He is SO thankful that he decided to team up with his friend and give us another book to enjoy in the Elephant & Piggie Like Reading! series. How lucky are we?? Harold & Hog Pretend for Real, written and illustrated by the very talented author Dan Santat, is a story about best friends playing a game of pretend.
Have you ever put on a costume and imagined that you are somewhere else, completely made up, pretending to be someone else? In this funny tale, Harold & Hog pretend to be Piggie and Elephant! If you are in grades 1, 2, or 3, this book was written specifically with YOU in mind! Harold & Hog Pretend for Real is in stores now.
How do you plan to say thanks at the wrap of this school year?
