HOW TO PAINT GALAXY RAINBOW ROCKS

How To Paint Galaxy Rainbow Rocks

We’re thrilled to have Susie today from Rock Painting 101 share this tutorial for making gorgeous Galaxy Rainbow Rocks! As you know we’re huge fans of rainbow rocks and rock painting for spreading kindness.

Make sure to watch the video above to make these out-of-this-world Galaxy Rainbow Rocks and follow the material list down below.

Our family is huge into rock hunting and hiding. We have been for a few years now. I am always trying to think of fun new designs to paint on our rocks to share with our readers. Ever since I created this radial rainbow rock I knew I loved to add black to my rainbow rocks.

The black paint with all the bright colors of the rainbow really makes a rock stand out! So I thought why not create a rainbow deep in outer space! Add in some bright white stars at the end and you have a design that really stands out.

GALAXY RAINBOW ROCK – MATERIALS:

INSTRUCTIONS:

Creating this outer space rainbow takes a bit of planning, but not a lot of experience painting. You can base coat your rock with acrylics, spray paint, or even a larger Posca paint pen.

Next, use one of the center colors of the rainbow, yellow or green, to create the flow of your rainbow.

Then add on all the colors along the same line.

Thicken the line on one end to create depth.

Allow your first layer to dry completely before adding a second coat. This will really help those colors pop off the black background.

Once your second layer of the rainbow is dry begin to add on your stars.

You can place them to hide any errors you may have made along the way.

Star trails, little dots, can be added as well! We didn’t stop here we created a whole batch of rocks to add to our rainbow rock collection! Watch the whole process in this video:

Susie started painting rocks as a fun after-school activity with her little ones. Often she found herself sitting at the table painting long after they had left. Her love of painting rocks sparked her site RockPainting101.com. Where you can find endless rock painting inspiration and tutorials to watch.
