How do you make a bubble costume?

First, take your tube and tape sections together to make it fit the width of your kids’ body. Then tape or hot glue the sections together (we used three bands). Measure your child to determine a good circumference around his or her body Then hot glue or tape the two seams to form a tube shape.

Take a piece of blue foam and glue to the front of the tube. Glue the printable on the blue foam.

Take another piece of cardboard and simply draw two circular shapes one larger than the other to simulate a bubble wand. Cut out your cardboard and use that as a template to cut the same piece of blue foam which you’ll glue over the cardboard. This is your completed wand.

Have your child get in the cardboard tube and measure elastic straps that will hold his shoulder up. Then glue them on the tube.

To make a bubble cap, take a round piece of cardboard and add corrugated cardboard around it (the same thing you used for the bottle tube) and cut it down so it’s not so tall. Glue the two cap pieces together and then glue a piece of elastic band around it so it can fit around your child’s head.

Last, blow up your clear balloons. We actually used these special clear ones that last quite a while filled with air and won’t easily deflate. We used a balloon electric pump but you can also use an air pump although that will be harder to blow up fast and easily.

Use glue dots or strong double-stick tape to affix a few pieces of balloons around the top of the bottle and on the cap. Your DIY Bubble Costume is done!

How can you make this costume more fun?

We got an electric bubble gun and my son had a great time trying to “catch” the bubbles with his wand or pretending to blow them. We highly recommend brining one with you trick or treating. Your family will definitely be the start  of the street and make a lot of other trick or treaters happy trying to catch bubbles!

Can I use any other color ballons?

Yes you can use other color balloons and even the more traditional ones that are more milky white transparent than the unique clear ballons we used. Just note they will deflate more easily so blow them up right before trick or treating.
