If you’re looking for a quick Halloween craft and treat combo, these Spider Lollipops are it!

Who said all spiders were creepy? Not this spider! These would be perfect for a Halloween-themed party, classroom treat, or even just an after-school craft and treat.

Maybe a little creepy if you don’t like spiders but we think no matter what, the kids won’t be able to resist the treat and maybe even playing with the spider while they’re enjoying their Tootsie Pop!

Could you make these lollipop spiders in a different way?

You absolutely could use a Blow Pop sucker or Dum Dum, basically anything round to represent the body of the spider.

If you’re using a smaller sucker, you’ll want to make the pipe cleaner body and googly eyes smaller as well to keep it proportionate.

We used a glue dot because they’re very sticky and easy to work with but if you don’t have any on hand, if your kids are old enough or you’re doing the googly eyes as the adult, you could use a hot glue gun. Craft glue may work as well.

How do you make spiders out of Tootsie Pop Lollipops?

Choose your pipe cleaner color for the spider, take two pipe cleaners in that color and cut them in half. You can either line them up and eyeball the halfway point or measure the middle, then cut, or if they don’t match up once all lined up, you can always trim the 4 pieces to match.

Line up all 4 halves next to each other and place the Tootsie Pop (where the wrapper is covering the stick) on top of the pipe cleaners, almost half of the way from one of the sides, somewhere in between 1/3 and 1/2 of the way. If they end up being uneven legs, you can easily trim them to match lengths.

Wrap the long side of the pipe cleaners around the sucker (right where the wrapper is covering the stick), loop it around and pull tight so it’s secure around the stick of the Tootsie Pop.

Spread apart each of the legs so the spider begins to take shape.

Bend each of the legs into small L shapes/90 degree angle representing the spider’s 8 legs.

Reposition any of the legs for even spacing. No one spider has to look the same!

Place your googly eye directly onto a glue dot on the roll, press and lift up. Place on the center head of the spider, repeating with a second googly eye.
