Does your little one stop and stare in awe at construction sites and vehicles when out and about? Make your child his or her own crane and digger trucks with this fun project made of recycled items!

– Recycled paper rolls large and small

– Craft paper colored rolls

Colored construction paper

Colored tape

– Tape, glue, paper cutter

– Compass and scissors

To make the crane:

Roll and glue your large paper roll with colored construction paper. With some colored tape (masking tape) make some crosses all over your tube. Set aside.

To make the top of your crane: draw and cut a triangle out of colored construction paper. Set aside. To make the round element: cut a long rectangle (around 10″ by 1″) and fold and glue it. Take a piece of embroidery string and make a knot around your round element.

Make the crane: Take your roll and with scissors make a cut on top of it, on both side. Now insert the top of your crane. Glue your string behind the top.

The conductor box: Cut a rectangle out of your construction paper. Roll it to make it round and glue it. Add a rectangle, either out of paper or thin cardboard (like a cereal box); glue it to your circle. Draw 2 circles and glue on top and bottom of your shape. See collage photo above. Add the box to your crane.

Make the truck: Take one small colored craft roll. Make a hole on top. Make similar paper circle shapes as in the crane elements and attach to a piece of embroidery string and then, link the roll to the circle by gluing them together. Roll leftover pieces of paper and insert inside your construction truck circles. Repeat as much as you want.
