KID-MADE PUFFY PAPER RAINBOW STICK MOBILE

If you’ve been following along here for a while you’ll know we love rainbows! (Check out these awesome rainbow art ideas, science projects and rainbow treats)

This cheerful puffy paper rainbow mobile was inspired by a rainbow drawing my daughter drew on whim. I caught her one day coloring a huge rainbow and we thought of a unique way we could hang it up to show off its brilliant colors. After all, who doesn’t need more rainbows in their life?

Puffy Paper Rainbow Stick Mobile – Materials:

– Thick drawing paper (we love this large mixed media paper)
– Markers (we love these big thick ones for large drawings) or paint
– Yarn
– Stick
Polyfill (or use anything soft like crumpled newspaper)
– Staplers
– Scissors
– Hole puncher

Instructions:

Step 1. Draw a large rainbow and color in with markers. You can of course use paint.

Step 2. Cut it out and then use it as a template to trace another shape out from your paper.

Step 3. Staple the two shapes together, leaving an opening.

Step 4. Stuff with polyfill then staple shut.

Step 5. Hole punch the top, thread yarn though and around your stick. Tie off and you’re done!

Isn’t it so happy? Hang it in the kids’ room or anywhere you want a pocket of happy. You could also follow these steps for any big shapes your kids draw, in our case it was a rainbow since it happens to be my daughter’s favorite thing to draw. It’s such a fun way to display your kids’ art!

Of course little brother immediately claimed the mobile as his own 🙂
