I’m not an artist, but secretly I wish I was and envy people who can pick up a pen and start drawing. Over the past years, however, I’ve gotten over my anxiety of drawing inspired by my kids who can do just that, boosted by their own imagination. That’s why I’m excited to share with you this awesome book written by my good friend Jeanette from the artsy blog, Craftwhack. You might recall our interview with Jeanette and her tips on getting kids creative. She’s the genius behind this delightful new drawing book titled Tangle Art and Drawing Games for Kids.

The thing is, it’s not just for kids. The book is packed with simple, whimsical and totally fun drawing prompts, ideas and games to get kids and adults drawing. The best part is, you don’t need fancy art materials or prior art knowledge. It really is as simple as picking up a pen or marker and having a handy sketchbook to doodle on.

My daughter and I zeroed in on one of the projects immediately after oohing and ahhing over the many engaging drawing projects in the book: geometry trees!

We love colors so we busted out our favorite markers and watercolors to make our tree as vibrant as possible.

Every tree needs a good trunk, so that’s where we started. Then it was just a matter of adding lines and connecting them in cool geometric shapes. That’s it!

We filled in our geometric designs with watercolors which added depth and color to the finished artwork. We use our favorite markers and watercolors to do this simple and fun art project. And of course a copy of Tangle Art and Drawing Games which provides additional prompts and suggestions to embellish your Geometry Trees.
