I love exploring new art ideas to show my kids and was inspired to create this 3D Rainbow Flower Art with them based on one of my favorite Instagram feed and friend Nicole from @golden_freckles. Nicole is a talented illustrator from Germany and features clever illustrations with real objects layered on top, giving them a 3D feel. She was very open to me sharing this idea with all you wonderful readers and I’m excited to show off this fun project today!
I thought this vase illustration was an easy one to inspire kids to think outside the box in how to create 3D illustrations. You can do so much with this technique using other drawings and real objects.
All you need are:
– Large piece of paper (we used our favorite watercolor paper)
– Flowers (we used fresh rainbow flowers or you can dye your own) or use silk flowers instead so the art lasts.
This is as easy as it looks. Check out the fun video on top of post. Draw vases on your paper, add the flowers on top! That’s it! Tip: you can add a few dabs of glue to keep them in place. Or use silk or fake flowers to keep the art forever.
How fun and beautiful is this 3D Rainbow Flower Art! It opens up discussions with kids on how to make their art come alive. There are so many other ways you can explore this with their favorite trinkets, toys or objects.
