FLEXURE: THE FLEXIBLE WONDER TOY

Flexure is a successfully backed Kickstarter project that reached its funding goal in March. They’re estimated to ship out the first sets to backers in July 2014, and hopefully wider rollout afterwards.

Flexure is based on an erector set-like construction kit mentality, with a key innovation – the connectors that join the pieces together are made of a flexible, food-safe silicone. This allows some ‘forgiveness’ in construction, because when the sticks are connected, they don’t have to be perfectly aligned. This also allows what you build to have some flexibility.

There are six different connector pieces, allowing for various numbers of pieces to be joined together. One of the connectors is a suction cup, allowing your child to secure their creation to a suctionable surface. Sticks come in three lengths of 3, 5, and 8 inches. With these combinations of sticks and connectors, combined with the possibilities of the flexible connections, you’ve got one pretty cool building toy to fill big imaginations.
