DIY CARDBOARD CHALK ROBOT

Here’s a cool “talking” robot you can make out of just cardboard with chalkboard details so kids can design virtually any robot they’d like over and again! Read more below and find out how easy and fun he is to make!

DIY Cardboard Chalk Robot – Materials:

– Small cardboard box plus extra for making the head, masking tape

Chalkboard contact paper

– Two toilet paper tubes

– Aluminum foil

– Hot glue gun

– Chalk (we love these vibrant liquid chalk makers from Fun Chalk but you can also use plain chalk)

Instructions:

Step 1. Cover your cardboard box with chalk decal paper. For the head, we used masking tape to cover four sides together to make a small box but if you happen to have a small box in the right size, even better. Cut off about 1/3 from each toilet paper tube and cover with aluminum foil for the “arms.”

Step 2. Hot glue the robot parts together. Head to the body and arms to the sides of the box. You’re done with your chalk robot and he’s ready to be decorated!

We were lucky to have recently received these Fun Chalk liquid markers in the mail. Unlike non-liquid chalk, these work just like markers and create vibrant colors. I found them easier for little ones to write and draw with since they act just like markers. They’re also eco-friendly, chalk and dust free which is great for those with allergies.

Once you’re done with one robot design, just wipe off the chalk with a damp cloth. Fun chalk can be used on any non-porous surface like chalk or white boards.

My daughter created all sorts of designs, plus robots with fun messages on them.

We had so much fun with our chalk robot! He’s great for inspiring creativity, doodles, or cute sayings. We love using Fun Chalk to draw on him, because of the bright colors and ease of wiping (no dust!). But you can also use regular chalk which works well on chalk contact paper too (see our 5 Minute DIY Chalkboard Refrigerator).

What are some of your favorite chalk activities to do with the kids?
