Love is in the air with Valentine’s Day right around the corner! Celebrate with your sweeties with these cute 3 Easy Valentine Art Projects for Kids. These make beautiful cards or decor (you can easily string them up as a pretty Valentine garland). 

The pom pom heart is a fun sensory experience to share and make for younger siblings. My 10 year old daughter made it for her toddler brother! Or is a cool DIY coaster idea for family members.

These easy Valentine art projects for kids require very few materials of which you probably already have at home. And are easy to create using our free heart template (download below).

HEART SCRAPE PAINTING – MATERIALS: 

  • Heart template (download here)
  • Watercolor paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Various colors of paint (you can use any, we used acrylic paint)
  • A scraper like a squeegee or use a piece of cardstock or cardboard

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1. Print out the heart template and cut it out.

Step 2. Use the heart as a template to trace onto watercolor paper and then cut it out.

Step. 3. Add drops of paint onto your heart watercolor paper, evenly distributed. 

Step 4. Use your scraper to slowly scrape from one side to the other, wipe off the paint Scrape in another direction until the heart is filled with paint. Let dry. 

POM POM HEART – MATERIALS: 

  • Heart template (download here) 
  • Cardstock
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Pom poms
  • Hot glue gun

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1. Print out the heart template and cut it out.

Step 2. Use the heart as a template to trace onto thick paper (you can also use thin cardboard) and then cut it out. It helps to have two heart templates out for step 3. 

Step. 3. Lay out how you want your pom poms to look on one heart, then it’s easy to start glueing on the other blank heart, one pom pom at a time.

BLOW ART HEART – MATERIALS: 

  • Heart template (download here)
  • Watercolor paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Watercolor paint
  • Bowls
  • Dish soap
  • Water
  • Straw

INSTRUCTIONS: 

Step 1. Print out the heart template and cut it out.

Step 2. Use the heart as a template to trace onto watercolor paper and then cut it out.

Step. 3. Add a squirt of dish soap to your bowl.

Step 4. Add some watercolor paint to the bowl and water, you just want enough liquid to be able to blow bubbles past up your bowl.

Step 5. Grab your straw, blow OUT not IN only! Make sure to supervise this step with young kids to make sure they blow OUT. 

Step 6. Once the colored bubbles rise to the top, grab your heart and place face down, the bubbles will dissipate and leave a lovely marbled effect. Repeat with more colors.
