RECYCLED BOX VALENTINE HEART STRING ART

We love string art and made heart string cards a couple of Valentine’s Day ago which was a huge hit with the kids! We thought we’d do a creative twist by recycling a box and stringing some hearts right on it!

The box upcycles to become a pretty display canvas that costs nothing!

Recycled Box Heart String Art – Materials:

– Shallow closed box
Small nails
Yarn or string
– Scissors

Instructions:

Step 1. First you’ll need a heart template. We searched “heart template” online and printed out a few different sizes to use as templates. Trace over your box.

Step 2. Punch in the nails with your hands (adults should do this step) all around the heart as shown below.

Step 3. With one color string, tie off to one nail and string in a criss-cross design. When you want to add another color, simply tie the first string to another color and continue. When you’re done, tie off the string to one of the nails and snip off any tails.

This heart string art is a fun way for kids to practice their fine motor skills and is a sweet Valentine’s Day art project!
