WINTER HOLIDAY TREE SQUEEGEE PAINTING

Every year I try to come up with new ways to create beautiful, scenic winter art. Here I’ve used a technique that I wanted to try for a while now with a squeegee! The blending creates that trendy ombré look. This is a very satisfying technique to try and the kids will love it.

Materials:

Thick white paper like cardstock

Acrylic paint

Paint brush

Squeegee

Salt

Scissors

Optional: adhesive foam and adhesive flock

Instructions:
Step 1. Pour small blobs of paint on the left hand side of your paper. I like the small Craft Smart bottles for better control. You can arrange the paint however you like.

Step 2. Place the squeegee just to the left of the paint and drag the squeegee/paint across the paper. You can do this several times.

Step 3. While your painted paper is drying prepare your background on another sheet of paper. Paint it with watered down acrylic paint and while it’s wet sprinkle on some salt. This creates a nice winter blizzard texture.

Step 4. Once your ombré paper is dry, you can cut trees out however you’d like.

Step 5. Glue them to the background or use adhesive foam to create a 3D look.

Step 6. I spritzed my scene with a water bottle and sprinkled on some adhesive flock to add some extra snow!
