Create a meaningful Father’s Day gift with this DIY handprint tool apron kids can personalize with paint and love. A heartwarming keepsake that’s both practical and fun!
Looking for a meaningful and practical Father’s Day craft? This DIY Handprint Tool Apron is a heartfelt gift that little ones can help create. Plus, it’s something Dad will actually want to use! Perfectly functional and a great “tool” to have around! Add an optional thumbprint hammer for an extra special touch.
Is this apron for the dad or the kid?
This is a craft apron that’s adult-sized, meant to go around your waist and fits small tools like screwdrivers and measuring tape! The best part is since it’s small, your little ones can also wrap it around their waist! It was able to fit my 7-year-old!
Father’s Day Apron – materials:
-
Washable nontoxic paint in your child’s favorite colors (we used acrylic)
-
Paintbrush or sponge brush
- Paint marker or black permanent marker
-
Dad’s favorite small tools (to fill the pockets!)
- Small hammer (optional for thumbprint art!)
Instructions:
-
Set up your workspace with a newspaper or cardboard under the apron to avoid a mess.
-
Paint your child’s hands with paint using a brush or sponge, then help them press each hand firmly onto the apron.
-
Let it dry, then use a permanent marker to write a sweet message like “Daddy’s Little Helper” or “Daddy’s Helping Hands” on the apron.
-
Once dry, fill the pockets with tools or treats to complete the gift.
Final Thoughts:
This keepsake is not only adorable but practical too. Every time Dad grabs a tool, he’ll be reminded of the little hands that made his day extra special. You can create one for both Dad and child for fun craft and DIY assignments around the home!
