DRAGONS LOVE TACOS DIY HALLOWEEN COSTUMES FOR KIDS

Excited to share part 2 of our book-themed Dragons Love Tacos costumes. We shared an easy no-sew felt taco costume last week and are back today to share a super easy dragon costume that’s also no-sew.

We’re also showing the Dragon and Taco together! What a cute duo these two make. Wouldn’t these be adorable for a siblings costume? You can even make it a family costume by making another adult dragon or taco and/or having mom or dad go as one large hot sauce!

To make this easy dragon costume, we used this tutorial as inspiration, but modified it with the following changes below. We also added a paper tube blowing fire torch because a dragon wouldn’t be one without breathing fire right?!

Dragon DIY Costume – Materials:

– One hoodie and matching colored pants + one additional same colored pants (we love these matching sets from Primary)

Colorful sponges (we used 13 total for our costume)

Polyfill stuffing

Hot glue gun

For the fire:

– Toilet paper tube

– Elastic

– Hole punch

Red and yellow paper

– Glue or hot glue

Instructions:

Step 1. Cut the leg off one of the leggings. Hot glue the skinny end shut. Stuff with polyfill and hot glue the other end shut.

Step 2. Cut your sponges into triangles. We made one triangle per sponge since we wanted as large of a triangle as possible.

Step 3. Hot glue your triangles along the hoodie and down the back. Hot glue your dragon tail to the center of the other pair of legging and continue hot gluing the sponges until you have triangles all along the hoodie down to the tail.

For the fire:

Step 1. Cut out two red streaks of fire-like shapes, we just free-hand drew them. Do the same except smaller for two yellow streaks. Glue the yellow onto the red flames.

Step 2. Curve each flames and secure with glue to the inside of your paper tube. Allow to dry completely. Hole punch the tube and thread elastic through, tie off.

Hand your little dragon the fire torch and watch him blow off some steam!

Have your kids decided what they want to be for Halloween?

We hope you enjoyed the tutorials for these adorable no-sew costumes. We’ll be sharing a few more easy no-sew felt costumes in the next couple of weeks so make sure to check back!

P.S. Big thanks to Primary for sending us this cute set of hoodie and pants for our dragon costume!
