Celebrate the holidays with this adorable sponge painted Christmas tree art. Little ones will love dipping sponges cut into circles to make bright and colorful “ornaments.” This is an easy art set up that’s perfect for toddlers on up.
Sponge Painted Christmas Tree Art – Materials:
– Sponges
– Paint (we like these bright neon Tempera paints)
– Paper (we used a mixed media paper, you can use watercolor paper too)
– Thin paint brush (optional for the garland lines)
– Pencil
Instructions:
Step 1. Draw triangles for your “trees” on your paper.
Step 2. Cut out various circle shapes from the sponges for the ornaments. Also squares or rectangles to paint the tree. We also cut out a star shape.
Step 3. Dab your sponge onto green paint for the trees. Allow to dry before adding the ornaments. Then use the circles you cut out to make ornaments. Stamp a star on top.
Step 4. Use your thin paint brush to add garland lines.
Hang up your art for a festive holiday decoration kids will be proud of making! You can also make smaller trees and repeat the patterns to make a cute hand-stamped gift wrapping paper.
