EASY SHARK CARDBOARD COSTUME FOR KIDS

We love making handmade costumes for Halloween, but who’s got the time to spend elaborate hours on hand crafting one? That’s why we love using cardboard for making easy costumes (check out our emoji ones) to make creative costumes in no time at all.

This easy shark cardboard costume was inspired by this fish one from Alpha Mom which requires just paint and cardboard and a little bit of imagination.

Easy Shark Cardboard Costume – Materials:

– Cardboard
– Paint (white and black) we used Tempera paints
– Paint brushes
– Cutter (Xacto knife) or scissors
– Pencil

Instructions:

Step 1. Look up shark images online (search for shark clip art) and find one you like. We opted an easy and friendly shark image. Using the image as inspiration, sketch out your shark on a piece of cardboard. Figure out how large you want to make it depending on your child’s size. Cut out a center hole where your child’s arm will go through.

Step 2. Cut out the cardboard shark shape.

Step 3. Mix black and white paint to make gray. Paint over the shark (we gave it two coats). This is a great time to involve the kids in helping make their costume!

Step 4. You should see the pencil marks after you paint the shark gray. If you don’t, you can go over the faint lines again with pencil. Paint the eye and mouth white. Allow to dry, go over the details in black. You’re done!

There you go. A super easy costume you can really customize to any shape or creature. Stay tuned next week where we’ll be sharing an octopus themed one!
