HOW TO MAKE COLORED SAND ART STICKERS

I love tinkering around in my art studio and coming up with new projects. We’ve been doing a lot of sand art lately. First, we made our own colored sand and then I found some colored sand at the craft store and decided to give it a try. It had been sitting on the shelf for a while until inspiration struck. Love these fun and vibrant sand art stickers. They’re not exactly stickers but they are to start with. See what I mean and get the how to below.

First, here’s what you’ll need…

Materials:

colored sand, sticker paper of any kind (we used a free UPS roll from a business that went out of business. If you don’t have sticker paper you can use white glue on the paper and put the sand on the glue), tape.

Steps:

1. Lay a piece of sticker paper on the table sticky side up. We put rolled up masking tape on the smooth side of the sticker paper to hold it down while we worked. It can get a little unmanageable if the sticky paper isn’t taped down.

2. Take different squeeze bottles of colored sand and make a design on the paper. It’s a good idea to demonstrate this part for the kids so they don’t squeeze too much sand. You want to lightly squeeze the bottle. The great thing is that any design looks great.

3. When you have your paper covered, dump the excess sand in a bowl. We reused a lot of the rainbow sand by putting it back in the squeeze bottle.

4. Once you’re excess sand is wiped off the sticker paper your art is ready got go. You can put it in a mini art book or your art portfolio or just hang it on the wall. You could even make a wall hanging from it. We were having so much fun with this that each artist made 5 or 6 sand art stickers.

So we hung our stickers on the wall for an art show.

Then we did a little photo shoot in front of it, obvz. As I mentioned above, if you don’t have sticker paper you can do the same art with sand and glue on paper. It’s really fun too and you can keep adding layers of colors. Happy creating and thanks for reading along! xo Meri Cherry
