How To Make Beautiful Leaf Butterfly Art

Leaf Butterfly Art

Take the kids on a nature walk and collect leaves to make this gorgeous leaf butterfly! Kids will love painting leaves to reveal the painted wings.

Summer is here and it’s a time to be outdoors and explore nature with the kids! If your kids are into collecting fallen leaves, foliage and rocks like mine are, they will love making this pretty leaf butterfly! Turn leaves into lovely painted butterfly wings and sticks into butterfly bodies!

This nature art project is also a great way to teach kids about symmetry!

What do you need to make this leaf butterfly art?

All you need are some leaves, paint, a stick, paper, marker and glue! You can make various-sized butterflies by trying larger and smaller leaves.

You can also experiment with different color paints and layering of colors.

If you don’t have a stick you can simply draw in the body and use the same black marker for the antennae. Or draw in a body with paint!

What should I do with my butterfly craft?

After the paint dries you can put it in a shadow box and display in the home! Or you can hang up a bunch on a line to make a row of pretty butterfly art!

If you want to grab smaller leaves you can also make card-sized version for a lovely homemade DIY card.
