BUTTON STICK TREE CRAFT FOR KIDS

This adorable button stick craft may look simple to make, but packs a ton of fun for kids. It’s a building challenge, a good practice in using a glue gun (if your kids are new at it) a nature craft and good exercise in practicing fine motor skills!

Button Stick Tree Craft – Materials:

– Assorted colorful buttons
– Sticks
– Air Dry Clay
– Hot glue gun (a low temperature one is great for kids just learning how to use one for the first few times)
– A base (we used a piece of thick cardstock or you could use cardboard)

Instructions:

Step 1. Add a bit of air dry clay to your base. You could also secure with a bit of hot glue. Press buttons onto your clay base if you want, make sure to add a dab of hot glue.

Step 2. Start building your tree upward, hot gluing branches and buttons along the way until you feel your button tree looks complete.

This may seem pretty easy, but it’s a great project for your child to work through and apply building and engineering skills. The base has to be stable, and where you apply the sticks next will also have to form a stable base as you build upwards or sideways.

Once done with your tree, sit back and admire it as a pretty cool button stick art sculpture to display!
