What happens when you take a novelty camera and add LEGO like blocks to it? One of the possible results may be the Nanoblock digital camera, launched by Japanese company Fuuvi.
This functioning digital camera looks (and for the most part) is made of LEGO-like blocks. Nanoblocks are a bit smaller than LEGO blocks, but function similarly. Because the housing of the camera is constructed from blocks, you can customize it with different Nanoblocks – colors, shapes, size – anything that you can think of with the Nanoblocks that you have on hand.
As for the camera portion, don’t let its miniscule size fool you. This is in fact, a real digital camera. It has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery for up to 100 mins of shooting time and a USB port for plugging into computers. Photos and video are stored on a micro SD card up to 16GB in size. The camera is a 2 megapixel sensor that shoots still images at 2048 x 1536 resolution in JPEG format.
I think this would make a wonderful “toy” for an enthusiastic young photographer which combines play and function all in one. Or at least get them acquainted with the basics of capturing their own photos and documenting images in a fun way.
