We’re into making GIANT things lately out of paper, have you see our giant painted pinwheels? Kids love building blocks and surprises so we decided to combine the two by making these huge paper boxes that double as surprise boxes and/or building blocks for play.

The best part is that all you need are paper and scissors to get started. The trick to making large squares that fold easily is using colored wrapping paper!

Get the material list below and make sure to watch the video above to see how easy it is to make these GIANT colorful blocks and boxes.


Colored Wrapping Paper, cut into 18″ squares (you can make them any size as long as they are square, you will need 6 squares per box)

– Scissors


Step 1. Cut 6 large squares in 6 different colors.

Step 2. Watch our video above to see how easy they are to fold.

Step 3. Interlock the sides of each folded square to make a block. You’re done!

These are so fun as indivdual blocks to turn into a “surprise box” for your child. Add a little treat or present inside.
