How to Make Christmas Tree Paper Plate Craft

Step One: Trim a Tree into the Plate

To make this Christmas tree paper plate craft, take a paper plate, cut out the shape of a Christmas tree, then, using a hole puncher, punch out holes near the edges of the cutout.

Step Two: Use String to make the Tree

Next, using string or yarn, run the string through the holes to make a pattern for the tree. Tape the first thread to the back of the plate or tie a thick knot so it doesn’t come undone. Then you can go on to thread the rest of the tree.

You’ll then need to tie a knot at the end of the piece of string when you’re done. This will help keep the tree shape from unraveling.

Tip: Add a bit of tape to the end of the string your you’re threading through the holes so it acts as a safe “needle” to go through the holes.

Step Three: Add some Decorations

Use a piece of brown paper to make the trunk of the tree and glue on the plate.

Once this is done, add some decorations and a shining star to the top! Many people choose to add Christmas ornaments, tinsel, or Christmas lights to their tree so you could add glitter pipe cleaners or thread led lights.

We kept it simple and just glued on mini pom poms and a glitter star cut out from glitter paper. You could also use glitter star stickers.

Have fun and get creative! There are so many possibilities for this craft. You could even get creative and make a different tree for every year, or add a new decoration each time.
