These adorable peg dolls are fun for kids to color in and customize with hair, clothing and doily skirts. Not only that, they’re magical and actually dance!
Find out how to make these dancing doily peg dolls twirl around with an easy magnetic trick.
Magnetic Dancing Doily Peg Dolls – Materials:
Step 1. Have your child color in the peg doll bodies. Use colored pencil for face features as markers will tend to bleed on the wood grain when you draw fine features.
Step 2. Fold your doilies in half, cut a half semi-circle in the center and slip several over your dolls. Secure each with hot glue underneath around the “waist.” Fluff up the doilies.
Step 3. Hot glue your dolls each to a wooden stand, then hot glue a magnet on the bottom of the stand. Hot glue a magnet to a craft stick.
Step 4. Using a book cover, cardboard, or posterboard as we did here, place your doll on top with the magnet stick underneath. Rotate the stick to make the dolls spin!
Aren’t these the cutest? And so easy and fun for kids to make. My kids were mesmerized by the spinning and loved being able to control it!
Do you enjoy making peg dolls with your kids? We loved using doilies as “skirts” in this case.
NOTE: When crafting with magnets, it is always important to supervise children at all time.
