We’re all about kid-friendly no-sew crafts and this cute yarn snowman is another fun one to add to the list of softies kids can make. We got the idea to make him from our DIY painted yarn ball ornaments. The concept is the same in that you roll yarn around polyfill or stuffing to create a ball. Then we simply glued the two balls together to form a snowman!
Of course a snowman wouldn’t be complete without a carrot nose, hat and comfy scarf, so we included some felt parts and a finger knit scarf to keep him warm!
No-Sew Yarn Snowman – Materials:
– White or cream yarn
– Polyfill stuffing
– Felt scraps
– Yarn for scarf (you can finger knit him one or just bundle several yarn strands together and tie off).
– Hot glue gun
Step 1. Wind yarn around polyfill stuffing and tie off. See more detailed photos on the how-to for our yarn ball ornaments. Make two sizes of balls and hot glue to each other to form a snowman shape.
Fingerknit a scarf (see here how to fingerknit – we just used two finger knitting for this scarf) or just bundle yarn together to make a scarf.
Step 2. Cut two small black circles for eyes, a yellow felt hat, orange triangle for nose and two pink circles for cheeks. Hot glue onto your snowman.
Step 3. Tie your yarn scarf around him. You’re done!
As an additional step, you could loop a string of yarn around the top of his head to make your snowman an ornament!
