DIY WHIMSICAL WOODEN STACKING DOLLS

These stacking dolls are a whimsical take on the traditional stacked toys. Kids can play around with shapes, colors and patterns to create little personalized works of art. This is a simple way to get children to experiment and stretch their artistic muscles.

Have the wood pieces and paint out and ready, then let the kids take care of the rest. The finished products are fun and beautiful.

Whimsical Wooden Stacking Dolls – Materials:

– Wood wheels: Large, Medium and Small Wood Spools

Beads and cones

– Wood Skewers

– Paint

Black Marker Pen

– Glue Gun

– Parchment paper

Paint the wooden pieces and set to dry for about one hour. Once the pieces are completely dry, use black marker to add designs. There is really no limit or rules to what can be done.

Next, create the stand for the stacking toy. Using a sharp scissors (adults should do this step) trim skewer desired length. The pictured dolls were trimmed to 5 1/2 inches. Cut the sharp point off the top of the skewer so that it is dull.

Next, lay the wooden wheel on a small scrap of parchment paper. The parchment paper will keep it from sticking. Fill the hole about 3/4 full of hot glue. Quickly add the bamboo skewer and hold in place so the skewer is straight. It should take just a few seconds to dry and secure.

Have fun creating endless designs! This could make a fun craft for a birthday party or a great rainy day activity, don’t you think?
