CANDYLAND CHARACTERS PAPER TUBE CRAFT

Candyland has always been a part of my childhood as I’m sure it was a part of yours, and I wanted to bring some of the iconic characters from the game to life. It was a treat to make the sweet and sugary King Kandy, Queen Frostine and Mr. Mint. They certainly look good enough to eat. Try making them with your little gumdrops!

Candyland Characters Paper Tube Craft – Materials:

-Cardstock

-Circle craft punches in various sizes

-Hole puncher (smallest circle)

-Paper trimmer

-Fringe scissors (or regular scissors)

-Glitter

-Pom-Poms

-Pipe cleaner

-Acrylic paint

-Stapler

-Spray glue

These characters are mostly made up of strips of paper cut at various heights and then stapled on once they’re wrapped around the tube. The details are various circles cut using craft punches and strips of paper glued together.

King Kandy’s crown is a leftover faux Easter egg that I painted and decorated with pom-poms, inverted and placed inside the tube.

For the hair, I use my fringe scissors to make the strips and then wrap them around something like a pencil or a lollipop stick to create the curls.

Mr. Mint has a cone for a hat, which is a 3″ circle cut in half, the one half is shaped into a cone by finding the center of the straight side, this will be the point, and then by overlapping the sides.

I always use photo reference from the internet especially for their faces. I often use my iPad as a “light-box” to trace and transfer the faces to the tube, then I paint on the details.

Lastly, once everything is glued on, I lightly sprayed the entire character with spray glue and then dusted them with iridescent glitter.
