BEAUTY AND THE BEAST ENCHANTED ROSE CRAFT

Beauty and the Beast is back with all of the magical enchantment it brought us years ago with the animated version. Relive the wonder of this musical by making your own enchanted rose.

I used recycled newspaper to make these lovely roses, and kids will have a lot of fun painting on top of news articles too! Some simple materials and a little nostalgia are all you need to recreate you own “tale as old a time”!
Beauty and the Beast Enchanted Rose Craft – Materials:

Directions:

Step 1. Prepare your newspaper by painting it gently, I suggest only one coat of paint on both sides, let it dry well.

Step 2. While your paint is drying make the stem of your rose, apply glue to one side of the green cardstock paper and roll it up tightly. Twist the paper to make a more organic looking stem.

Step 3. Cut out some leaves with green cardstock paper.

Step 4. Cut out circles about 3 1/2 inches in diameter from the painted newspaper. I used three circles to make one rose. Cut a spiral into the circles making your way towards the middle, scallop your cutting as you go.

Step 5. Layer the circles on top of each other and carefully roll up the paper starting with the tip and making your way towards the middle, hot glue the rose in place.

Step 6. Glue the rose and leaves to the stem.

Step 7. Hot glue the stem to a piece of white cardstock paper big enough to cover the opening of the cup. Place some shredded paper around the base of the stem. Dip the rim of the cup in tacky glue and pace it over the rose. Trim the excess white cardstock.

Step 8. Hot glue a piece of ribbon to the top if you’d like to hang your rose, or glue gemstones to the top as well.
