RADDISH: COOKING SUBSCRIPTION BOX FOR KIDS

I’m a big fan of cooking with your kids so was excited to hear about this new service for kids helping do just that. Raddish is a monthly subscription service targeted at getting kids in on the culinary fun. Raddish’s creators are no strangers to getting kids excited about cooking. They created Kitchen Kid in 2006, a culinary education program for kids in the Los Angeles area, holding summer camps, classes, parties, and in-home lessons teaching an appreciation for food and cooking to kids.

Like other subscription-type services, Raddish is available in different subscription lengths – in this case 1, 3, 6, or 12 month subscriptions. While Raddish doesn’t provide the ingredients for the food, it gives you all of the knowledge and tools to make cooking an enriching and collaborative project with your child.

You receive three recipes that are family friendly and specifically illustrated to appeal to children. Along with it comes a “skill” card that helps kids learn various culinary techniques. Two creative activities (with materials) are provided which are meant to be supplemental activities to help further the learning and fun. A “Table Talk” card deck helps prompt conversations at the table about food and cooking.

To make it easy, a shopping list for your recipes is provided in the box and also emailed. Even going shopping for the ingredients can be a fun experience – my kids love going to the market, learning about different foods, and helping to pick things out.

I like Raddish’s holistic approach to getting kids excited about being in the kitchen while learning at the same time.

Raddish is available in various monthly plans, with the lowest starting at $20/month, including free shipping.
